Any material thickness may be used with this design, 3mm (1/8″) is recommended.

Two 2mm (.08″) round dowels are required. Round toothpicks work well.

This knife design features a functional locking mechanism which requires a material that is strong and somewhat flexible. Baltic birch plywood works well. Brittle materials may crack.

This knife is about 3.5″ long closed and 6″ long when opened.

Most of the samples shown are made from baltic birch plywood. The sample with the pattern engraved on the handle is made from purple heart and aromatic cedar.
